Congratulations to Kosterlitz and Thouless who won the 2016 Nobel physics prize, for their contribution to understanding Superconducting systems.

Kosterlitz and Thouless won 2016 Nobel physics prize (shared with Haldane) for their development (in parallel with Berezinskii…) of a very neat mathematical model that describes phase transitions in nano-superconductors near the onset of the phenomenon. The transition in the BKT framework is governed by rather surprising vortex interactions rather than by the usual Cooper-pair dominancy. A nice inspiring boost to this fascinating research field.
